Anoka-Ramsey Community College’s Chorale, now entering its fourth season, is open to all community members, alumni and high school students free of charge. No audition is necessary, previous choral experience helpful but not required.

Rehearsals will be Tuesdays, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Coon Rapids Campus beginning Sept. 9 and ending in November.

Rehearsals culminate in a series of regional performances of Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms with professional orchestra in partnership with the Land of Lakes Choirboys. The concert program will tell the story of the Christmas Truce at the dawn of World War I (1914) when soldiers laid down their weapons and shared their common humanity through food, fellowship and song.

This is the third choral ensemble at the Coon Rapids Campus and the seventh performing group. Jazz band, guitar ensemble, string orchestra, concert band are also offered.

“Not only will we be performing this amazing story of the Christmas Truce in our own community, we will be taking portions of the program to the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis and performing glorious music in an ethereal space,” says Music Faculty member Melissa Bergstrom.

Kay Wieland, new Music faculty at Anoka-Ramsey, will lead the rehearsals while Bergstrom conducts the combined choirs and orchestra at the performances.
