Annual College Scholarship Fundraising Event Nets $23,000

October 24, 2012

The numbers are in. The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Coon Rapids Campus Foundation’s annual Prairie Home Delights event in late-September raised 20% more scholarship funds than last year, with a total of more than $23,000.

The foundation’s Executive Director Marc Johnson credits the efforts of the foundation board members and the event committee for the successful evening and the $4000 increase over last year’s $19,200.

“I just want to thank everyone who took part in the preparation of this event,” says Johnson. “So much effort goes into this event, businesses offer sponsorships and people donate their time or baskets for auction. While a good time is had by all who attend, the real winners are the students who need this assistance to continue to pursue their education.”

For the first time in several years, this year’s event was hosted at the college’s Coon Rapids Campus. Catering was provided by Taher Catering, known for their elegant affairs. Kowalski’s Markets donated the cheese course, and Big Marina Grill, Chez Arnaud, Eli’s East, Mort’s Delicatessen and Taher donated an array of desserts.
