Free application and tuition freeze improves access to college

Anoka-Ramsey Community College and Anoka Technical College continue to strive to enhance access to higher education by no longer requiring a $20 application fee after Oct. 25.

The FREE application announcement and the two-year tuition freeze, are part of the colleges’ continued effort to keep college costs to a minimum.

“We want to remove any barriers that prospective students may encounter to considering and to achieving a college education,” explains Dr. Kent Hanson, President of Anoka-Ramsey and Anoka Tech. “By removing one extra fee, our hope is that many people apply, come and visit our campuses and see all that our colleges offer.”

Anoka-Ramsey and Anoka Technical College are aligned institutions and together form the largest community and technical organization in Minnesota, serving nearly 16,000 students annually.

In a related effort, the entire Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) system  will waive application fees for new students for a limited time as part of “College Knowledge Month,” a statewide effort to provide every graduating high school senior with the opportunity to apply to college. All 31 MnSCU institutions will waive application fees during the week of Oct. 25 – 31, 2013.

Anoka-Ramsey and Anoka Tech will continue to waive the application fee indefinitely.
