Fifty-Three Cambridge Campus Students Receive Foundation Scholarships

May 24, 2013

The numbers are in! In the 2012-2013 academic year, the Cambridge Community College Center Campus Foundation at Anoka-Ramsey Community College Cambridge Campus awarded 53 deserving students a total of $41,200 in scholarships to encourage them to strive for their dreams. The average scholarship is $750.

The Presidential Scholarship, valued at $3,000, was awarded to graduating senior Jackson Larson of Cambridge, Minn. Annually, the foundation awards up to $75,000 to students at the Cambridge Campus; scholarships are awarded in the fall and in the spring. Historically, more than 60 percent of the students who apply receive a scholarship.

Twice each year the student-recipients are invited to a luncheon and reception to meet the donors of the specific scholarships they received and share the impact of the awards on their lives.

Scholarships are partially funded by local businesses, including: Arrow Tank, Cambridge Medical Center, Cambridge-Isanti Rotary Club, East Central Energy, Chilson Jewelers, East Central Sanitation, The Memorial Hospital Foundation, Peoples Bank, Presbyterian Homes, Schlagel, Inc., and Wal-Mart.

Additional funds are raised to support scholarships through the annual Scholardazzle fundraising event held each January. In 2013, the Scholardazzle event raised more than $38,000.
