Join the fun: The IT Girl hits college stage April 18-26

April 09, 2014

Anoka-Ramsey Community College Theatre Department is proud to present:

The IT Girl
April 18, 19, 24, 25, and 26
7:30 p.m.
Coon Rapids Campus Performing Arts Center

Based on the 1927 Paramount picture It, this jazz-infused musical is a tribute to romantic comedies of the silent film era.  Betty Lou Spence is a smart spunky shop clerk working in the lingerie department at Waltham’s Department Store. Soon after Waltham’s launches an advertising contest to find a charismatic girl with “IT,” Betty catches the eye of Jonathan Waltham, heir to the family fortune.  What follows is a roller-coaster ride of comedy, music and romance. The music sparkles with bright and catchy melodies.  The dialogue crackles with wit.  The comedy is fast-paced and physical, evoking the slapstick style of silent films.  Join us for an evening of toe-tapping, side-splitting, flamboyant flapper fun!  Don’t miss IT!

“The musical is homage to silent film star Clara Bow, who was known as the “IT” girl, and to the movies of that era,” said Theatre Faculty member and play director Scott Ford. “It is a contemporary take on old-time comedy and jazz that I am sure many people will enjoy.”

Tickets can be purchased online at, or in-person at the Coon Rapids Bookstore or at the Box Office the night of the performance.
