ELL: What You'll Do

Depending on the results of your college placement test, you will complete either one or two sets of ELL reading and writing courses.

No matter which of the two levels you place into, you may choose to join an ELL Learning Community (see below) or to take individual ELL reading and writing classes.

You will also take part in weekly supplemental instruction (“SI”) sessions. There, you will have meet an additional instructor who can help you with important concepts and skills.

You will also be encouraged to take part in Conversation Partners, a free and fun program for practicing spoken English on the Coon Rapids campus.

After completing the higher of the two levels (“tiers”) of ELL reading and writing, you’ll be eligible to take college-level English and reading courses.
