Adult Student FAQ

Adult Learner
Answers to Common Questions

 1. Who is considered an adult learner?

Generally, anyone over the age of 25 or anyone who has been out of school for more than seven (7) years is considered an adult learner.

2. I'm not sure if I'm ready to go back to school.

Going back to school has never been easier. Anoka-Ramsey offers flexible class schedules including evenings and weekend classes, counselors and advisors who are specially trained to assist adult learners and academic support services (also called "tutoring") for areas in which you may feel "rusty."

If you are still unsure, you can make an appointment with an advisor to determine if going back to school is the right decision for you.

3. I have credits from another institution. Can I apply those at Anoka-Ramsey?

Your credits may transfer to Anoka-Ramsey. To determine if your credits will successfully transfer, make an appointment to talk with an advisor. You may also view the alternative credit Web page, to view information related to earning credits in a non-traditional manner.
