The Anoka-Ramsey Men's Basketball team improved their record to 3-4 by defeating the St. Thomas JV 64-60 on Monday. In the win, the Rams recorded a number of season-best totals. The 60 points allowed was a season-low for opponent's points, the Golden Rams committed a season-low 11 turnovers, and tied a season-high for made free throws (15) and steals (16) in the victory.
After holding a narrow lead for most of the game, the Golden Rams fell behind midway through the second half. Solid offensive execution, improved rebounding and defense, and successful free-throws allowed the Golden Rams to regain the lead with about four minutes left in the game. Anoka-Ramsey held on to win by a four point margin.
Tying a season-high, four players scored in the double figures. Tyrone Colston led the team with 15 points, Antonio Tate put up 14 points, Michael Kizzee earned 13 points and 7 rebounds, and Kyle Matuska contributed 11 points.
Bryce Wagner provided a spark in the second half pulling down 4 rebounds (three on the offensive end) and coming up with 3 steals. His lone point of the game was crucial, as he made a free throw to ice the game with five seconds remaining.
Anoka-Ramsey travels to Central Lakes on Friday, Dec. 5, and Fond du Lac on Saturday, Dec. 6 for a pair of MCAC Interdivisional games. The Golden Rams defeated Fond du Lac earlier in the season, 73-63.
