Impressive New Faculty Welcomed at Anoka-Ramsey Community College

Anoka-Ramsey Community College welcomed eleven new full-time faculty members in fall semester 2012.

 

Candice A. Bruhjell, Nursing faculty, is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Nursing education from Capella University, Minneapolis, MN. She holds a master in science in Nursing degree from Walden University; studied Biology and Psychology at the University of Minnesota, Duluth; and received an associate in science in Nursing degree from Anoka-Ramsey Community College. Bruhjell has been an adjunct faculty member at Anoka-Ramsey since 2010, and continues to work as a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. She is active in several organizations including International Association of Forensic Nursing, Minnesota Nurses Association, Nurses Christian Fellowship, Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. 

  Heidi Croatt, Communications Studies faculty, holds a bachelor of science degree in Speech Communication from Minnesota State University-Mankato; and a master of arts degree in Speech Communication from Southern Illinois University. She is currently completing her Ph.D. in Communication Studies at the University of Minnesota. Croatt has taught in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) system since 2010 at institutions including Century College, Metropolitan State University, and Minneapolis Community and Technical College, where she co-founded and co-advised Sigma Chi Eta, the Communication Studies Student Honor Society. Croatt has facilitated panel discussions and presents on the topics of parent-child sexual communication and interpersonal communication.
   
Jenna Stahl Greenwell, Mathematics faculty, holds a master of science in Mathematics and Statistics degree from Minnesota State University-Mankato; and a bachelor of arts in Mathematics degree from the University of Minnesota-Morris. Prior to Anoka-Ramsey, Greenwell taught at Minnesota State University-Mankato for three years and as a teaching assistant at the University of Minnesota, Morris. Greenwell is also an active member of the National Association for Developmental Education (NADE).   Debra Mayer, Nursing faculty, holds a master of arts in Nursing degree from Walden University; a bachelor of arts in Nursing degree from College of St. Scholastica; and an associate in science in Nursing degree from Anoka-Ramsey Community College.  Mayer has worked as a registered nurse for past 22 years, primarily in critical care and emergency nursing, and she continues to work in the emergency department at Cambridge Medical Center. Mayer is also active in the University of Minnesota’s Hartford Center for Geriatric Nursing Excellence.
     
Becky Groseth, Mathematics faculty, holds a master of science in Mathematics, a bachelor of science in Mathematics and Minnesota Teacher Licensure for Grades 5–12 from St. Cloud State University; and a bachelor of science in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from Minnesota State University-Mankato. She has been a temporary Mathematics Faculty member at Anoka-Ramsey since 2011. Prior to Anoka-Ramsey, Groseth taught at Champlin Park High School and Roosevelt Middle School. A longtime member of both, she currently serves as board liaison for the Minnesota Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges (MinnMATYC) and the Minnesota Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM). She is also an active member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges.    Becky Groseth
     
 Anthony Marchetti   Anthony Marchetti, Photography faculty, holds a master in fine arts in Photography (Summa Cum Laude) from the University of Minnesota and a bachelor of arts from Gustavus Adolphus College. Marchetti has been adjunct faculty at Anoka-Ramsey since 2009. He has also taught at the Arts Institutes International, Minneapolis; the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities; and the Minnesota Center for Photography. Marchetti’s work, including recently “Apartment for Rent,” has been displayed in solo exhibitions. His current work, “Occidente Nuevo, Casa del Tunel―Tijuana, Mexico,” will appear shortly in a group exhibition. Marchetti has received several prestigious grants including the Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant and a McKnight Photography Fellowship.
     
Quocnam H. Nguyen, Mathematics faculty, is currently pursuing a master of science in Statistics degree from Texas A&M University; and holds a master of science in Mathematics from Loyola University Chicago; and a Secondary Teaching Licensure degree from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN. Prior to coming to Anoka-Ramsey, Nguyen taught at the University of Cincinnati; Lincoln Park High School, Chicago, IL; Albert G. Lane Technical College Preparatory High School, Chicago, IL; Uskudar American Academy, Istanbul, Turkey; and Loyola University Chicago. Nguyen also has extensive experience as a boys’ and girls’ soccer coach.   Quoc-Nam Nguyen
     
Geoffrey Senn   Geoffrey Senn, Music Faculty, holds a master of Music in Instrumental Jazz Performance degree from the University of Miami, FL and a bachelor of music in Jazz Studies from the University of Minnesota, Duluth. Senn has been adjunct faculty at Anoka-Ramsey since 2009. Prior to Anoka-Ramsey, he built trumpets at Harrelson Trumpets and performed in a fleet orchestra in Princess Cruises. Along with teaching, Senn is also a freelance musician and composer working with many of the top groups in the region.
     
 Rick Schneider, Glassblowing faculty, holds a master of fine arts degree from the University of Wisconsin Madison; and a bachelor of arts in History degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison (distinguished graduate). He also attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston Mass. Prior to Anoka-Ramsey, Schneider taught at Belmont Arts Center, Pensacola FL; University of South Alabama; Richmond Glass Spot, Richmond VA;  Salisbury University, Salisbury MD; Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond VA; and the University of Wisconsin Madison. Schneider’s works has been extensively exhibited, including most recently in the 2012 Hot Glass Toledo; Glass Art Society 50th annual convention, Toledo OH; Duncan McClellan Glass Gallery, St Petersburg IL; Work It, Wiregrass Museum of Art, Dothan AL; Expo 30, BJ Spoke Gallery, Long Island, NY; and KIAWA #6 Exhibition, Kyoto, Japan.   Rick Schneider
     
Matthew Schuster   Matthew Schuster, Political Science faculty, holds a master of arts in Political Science degree from Arizona State University; and a master of arts in History degree from American Public University (graduated with honors). Schuster has been an adjunct faculty member at Anoka-Ramsey for several years and was nominated as Outstanding Faculty to the Minnesota Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) system Board of Trustees Award for Teaching Excellence in 2011 (he was ineligible due to his part-time status). Schuster is an active member of the American Political Science Association, the American Historical Association and the Minnesota Historical Society.
