Anoka-Ramsey Community College Cambridge Campus is proud to present Four Score: A Concert on the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, Monday, Dec. 2, 7:30 p.m., at the Cambridge-Isanti High School Performing Arts Center.
The event is free, open to the public and intended for all ages.
The concert will feature a new setting of Lincoln’s famous speech, composed by college Music faculty, Melissa Bergstrom.
“The opportunity to create a musical interpretation of these profound words to be performed on the anniversary of their first proclamation is thrilling, particularly because more than 150 students will take part,” says Bergstrom.
The program will be presented by the combined choirs and bands of both Coon Rapids and Cambridge campuses, and will also include three Civil War-related band pieces and a work by Benjamin Britten, “Ballad of Heroes,” to be performed by the combined choirs and a professional orchestra.
All these works are performed in honor of our military and their families, who are particularly encouraged to attend and be recognized by standing during the performance of the songs representing each branch of the military in the concert finale.
