Welcome to the Art Department!

Anoka-Ramsey Community College Art Department provides a quality arts education and assists students in achieving their artistic and career goals.

In addition to offering an Associate of Fine Arts degree, the Art Department also provides an opportunity to explore a variety of arts media. We contribute to the liberal arts education of all students by offering introductory studio courses in drawing, ceramics, glass, digital media, painting, photography, and sculpture, as well as art history and art appreciation.

We prepare individuals to build their portfolios or transfer to a Bachelor of Fine Arts program at a 4-year college or university.

Academic Options

An Associates in Fine Arts degree (AFA) allows students in the arts to transfer to a four-year college or university and prepares them for a career in the arts.  Upon completion of an AFA, students have the option to pursue a wide variety of majors. Areas of study include: studio arts (including drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, and sculpture), arts administration, art education, curatorial studies, art history, and art therapy.

Public Art Events:

The New Public Art: A Conversation - Wednesday, March 30, 2-3:30pm during College Hour with artists Amanda Lovelee, Marcus Young, Shanai Matteson, Colin Kloecker, and Witt Siasoco. Location TBA.

Don't You Feel It Too! - Tuesday, April 19th, 11:30am-2:00pm with artist Marcus Young. Near the Grand Staircase on the Coon Rapids Campus.
