Welcome to the Art Department!

Anoka-Ramsey Community College Art Department provides a quality arts education and assists students in achieving their artistic and career goals.

In addition to offering an Associate of Fine Arts degree, the Art Department also provides an opportunity to explore a variety of arts media. We contribute to the liberal arts education of all students by offering introductory studio courses in drawing, ceramics, glass, digital media, painting, photography, and sculpture, as well as art history and art appreciation.

We prepare individuals to build their portfolios or transfer to a Bachelor of Fine Arts program at a 4-year college or university.

Academic Options

An Associates in Fine Arts degree (AFA) allows students in the arts to transfer to a four-year college or university and prepares them for a career in the arts.  Upon completion of an AFA, students have the option to pursue a wide variety of majors. Areas of study include: studio arts (including drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, and sculpture), arts administration, art education, curatorial studies, art history, and art therapy.

Mixing Media: Listening to Art, Visualizing Sound - a juried visual arts exhibition that will be displayed in the upper level music department hallway. Music faculty recital November 19th, 7pm in the PAC with art show reception and awards ceremony to follow.

Nikki Vahle-Schneider - printmaking exhibition on view in the Cambridge Campus Gallery November 2th - December 4th. Opening reception November 5, 2-3pm.

High School Art Faculty Art Exhibition - on view in the Visual Arts building, Coon Rapids Campus, November 7th - December 7th. Opening reception November 12th, 6-8pm.

Luke Erickson - photography exhibition in the Riverview Gallery - November 7th - December 7th. Opening reception November 12th, 6-8pm.
