Anoka-Ramsey Community College Guard Named All-American

April 15, 2013

Tacita Gonzalez, a sophomore point guard at Anoka-Ramsey Community College, was named to the 2013 NJCAA Division III All American team.

Gonzalez, a Fridley High School graduate, led the Golden Rams in scoring averaging 12.3 points per game. She also led the team in assists (3.5) and steals (2.3). In 2011 she was the point guard on Anoka-Ramsey’s National Championship team.

Anoka-Ramsey Head Coach Dave DeWitt commented “Cita has overcome a lot of adversity in her life. Instead of making excuses she rose above her adversity, persevered and has made a big impact not just on our basketball program but the school as well. This is a well-deserved honor. We couldn’t be happier for her or more proud.”

Anoka-Ramsey finished the year with a 24-7 record winning their 4th consecutive MCAC Southern Division Championship and their 4th consecutive Region 13A Championship. They advanced to the national tournament for the 4th year in a row and the 13th time in the last 20 years.

Anoka-Ramsey Community College is a Division III Junior College and competes in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference. Women’s Basketball have won seven national championships.
