Tutoring Services- Academic Support Center

The Academic Support Center (ASC) provides free, drop-in tutoring in most subjects taught at Anoka-Ramsey Community College. The ASC also supports an on-site computer lab, a collection of study skills and writing tips, handouts, and information on study groups and upcoming student success workshops.

Contact the ASC as soon as you feel like you're having difficulty with a class. If you are frustrated or confused, you can get clarification.

If you already feel confident in your work, you can improve even more. We can help improve your preparation for exams, provide feedback about how to clarify your ideas on a paper, or present a math problem from a slightly different angle to help you find the answer.

Tutoring Schedules - posted by campus

Tutoring schedules will vary from one subject to the next and from one day to the next, but our weekly schedule stays the same throughout the semester so you can seek tutors at times that work the best for you. The schedule will indicate which subjects and at what times tutors are available in the Cambridge Campus and Coon Rapids Campus Academic Support Center.

You can work with the same tutor every time you visit the ASC or you can see different ones to fit your schedule. Remember - as an Anoka-Ramsey student you can use the tutoring service FREE and with no appointment. Just stop on in!

Location and Hours of Service

The ASC on the Cambridge Campus is located near the information desk in room D208, while on the Coon Rapids Campus you can find it on the lower level of College Services in SC160, across from the bookstore.

ONLINE TUTORING INFORMATION:

Outside of regular tutoring hours, Anoka-Ramsey Community College provides online access to SmarThinking. This online tutoring service is accessible through the D2L (Desire-to-Learn) course navigator. Students are granted 3 free hours of online tutoring upon registering for this service. After the allotted trial time, students have the option to purchase additional units. Please contact Paul Whiteford at 763-433-1826 with any questions.

Peer Tutors

Peer Tutors are Anoka-Ramsey students who excel in their course work, possess skills and qualities that make them ideal helpers, and have been recommended by Anoka-Ramsey faculty as demonstrating superior subject knowledge.

Peer Tutors are well-suited to offer support because they have recently taken many of the same classes that you are in now. This makes them uniquely qualified and you will know you are getting experienced and knowledgeable assistance. Tutors want to develop active, independent learners in the students with whom they work.
