November 08, 2016
The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men’s Soccer team claimed the 2016 NJCAA Region XIII Championship on their home field Sunday, Oct. 23. The men’s team defeated Riverland College by a score of 7-0.
The Golden Rams advanced to play in the District Championships on Friday, October 28 in the Chicago area. The Anoka-Ramsey Men’s team, ranked #8 in the country, were defeated with a score of 2-0 by Richland College, ranked #1 in the country.
The team finished their season with a 14-3 overall. Chris Vance led the team this season with 38 points, 14 goals and 10 assists, followed by Usama Saeed, 13 goals and 3 assists, and Louie Elliott, 12 goals and 5 assists, each with 29 points. Goalie Jordan Paton had an impressive year with 5 shutouts and a .817 save percentage.
Adding to the win, Head Coach Brady Eichhorn-Hicks was named the Region XIII Coach of the Year for both the men and women’s soccer teams.
“We are excited to be region champions and it definitely feels good to have the men and women do it in the same year,” said Eichhorn-Hicks. “The team worked extraordinarily hard and it’s great to see it pay off. A good number of these players travel a very long way to play for Anoka-Ramsey, so it’s not a surprise to see them focused and doing well. That’s why they’re here. “
