June 14, 2021
Starting fall 2021, Anoka-Ramsey Community College is excited to offer several new certificate options for students in the areas of Business and Sustainability as well as a certificate and degree in Integrative Health and Wellness Coaching.
Learn more about each of the new options below.
Business Crisis and Emergency Management
Students will learn how businesses proactively adapt to global emergencies, community disasters, and unexpected crises.
The students will gain an understanding of emergency management concepts, government agency awareness, associated legalities, and their impact on the diverse workplace while learning the functioning roles of human resources and management during a business crisis.
Entrepreneurship
The Entrepreneurship certificate is a robust program that provides a well-rounded approach for any student interested in entrepreneurship.
“This certificate is intended for those that aspire to be an entrepreneur now or in the future,” said John Mago, Business instructor. “Some examples would be a massage therapist who wants to start their own business, a physical therapist who wants to be a contractor or an artist who wants to sell their work. Being an entrepreneur comes from any discipline and this certificate can be the catalyst for the student to succeed.”
International Business
Being offered in partnership between Anoka-Ramsey’s Business and World Languages departments, the International Business certificate will develop a students’ cultural, interpersonal, and linguistic communication skills while enhancing their global and national business acumen.
This certificate offers students who are studying or have studied a foreign language at the college-level the opportunity to combine that skill set with business courses to fulfill requirements for a business-oriented career across all employment sectors.
Integrative Health and Wellness Coaching
The Integrative Health and Wellness Coaching certificate and Associate of Science (AS) degree programs are designed to prepare students to practice client-centered, whole-person coaching in a variety of settings. Courses in the program include theory, lab and clinical education opportunities in both integrative health and wellness and coaching.
In addition to preparing students for career success in the diverse and growing health and wellness industries, the program is designed to meet requirements for professional certification in health and wellness coaching.
Social Media Marketing
Last fall, Anoka-Ramsey offered a new Social Media Marketing class for the first time. To help meet the demands of both students and the marketplace, a full certificate was added to begin fall 2021.
The Social Media Marketing certificate will help students get started in the digital marketing field or incorporate new marketing techniques and skills into a current position.
Through the courses, student learn how social platforms are used to develop communication and marketing strategies for nonprofits, businesses, organizations and governments.
Sustainability Certificate
The Sustainability certificate program provides students with an understanding of the foundation of sustainability, as well as insights and tools for encouraging and strengthening environmental awareness and action in their personal lives and communities.
The emerging green economy will require individuals with diverse backgrounds as well as knowledge in their individual field. The certificate program provides students the opportunity to extend their sustainability knowledge beyond the traditional fields.
Students will be encouraged to choose courses from a range of disciplines to help prepare them to holistically view and thoroughly understand system interconnectivity in our changing modern world.
