SMSU brings bachelor of science degree in Exercise Science to Anoka-Ramsey
April 05, 2016
Anoka-Ramsey Community College and Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) have partnered to offer a new bachelor of science degree in Exercise Science at the Anoka-Ramsey Coon Rapids Campus starting in fall 2016.
“We are so excited to add another in-demand, four-year degree program on our campus,” said Dean of Business, World Languages and Social Sciences, Luanne Kane. “This four-year degree in Exercise Science can serve our students as a foundation for a growing career field, or as a launching point for a professional degree in the health care field.”
Students may enroll at both institutions simultaneously and can enter the bachelor of science degree in Exercise Science program as a first-semester freshman, or later as a transfer student.
General education requirements and associate in science degree in Exercise Science courses taken through Anoka-Ramsey apply toward the bachelor’s degree.
The program allows students with an interest in physical fitness and exercise performance to develop a scientific understanding of the body's response to exercise. Students will learn in and have access to the Anoka-Ramsey’s state-of-the-art Health and Wellness Center.
Areas of study for this degree include first aid and CPR, nutrition, wellness, weight training and conditioning, prevention and care of injuries, kinesiology, exercise physiology, fitness testing and exercise prescription.
