A Cultural and Community Hub: Learning Connected to Place
More than a campus, Cambridge serves as a cultural and civic hub for the region. Students learn and gather in outdoor classroom spaces, along the Spirit River Nature Trail, among restored wildflower fields and near the campus solar array—bringing sustainability and learning together in a meaningful way. These experiences connect students with the broader community and reflect the campus’s role as a gathering place for learning, creativity and civic engagement.
The campus proudly hosts community‑focused events such as:
- Candlelight Ski
- Science and Art Night
- Scholardazzle Foundation Fundraiser

Campus History: Growing with the Community Since 1978
The Cambridge Campus has a long history of serving East‑Central Minnesota. It opened in 1978 as the East Central Community College Service Center, originally housed in a wing of Cambridge Memorial Hospital. Construction on a permanent site began in 1981. The former Cambridge Campus Instruction Services building was constructed by Cambridge Development Corporation and leased to the state of Minnesota. The name officially changed to Cambridge Center–Anoka‑Ramsey Community College in 1983.
In 1996, the first portion of the current facility opened with the support of an $8.5 million state appropriation, adding vital academic and student service spaces. Continued advocacy by local legislators, community members, employees, and students led to a 34,000‑square‑foot addition in 2007.
